I think I say with confidence that this is not my favorite episode.
I have to say, I was a bit disapointed in this episode, but I don't know why. Part of me thinks it's the lack of JM, but I really liked the last season. Maybe it was that I found this episode too predictable. Nothing came as a surprise, except maybe Ianto. Now I like Ianto, but I felt like there was almost too much of him this episode, or rather that all of sudden he's inserting witty comments left right and center, and he was so quiet last season. I suppose it's possible he came more into his own with Jack gone.
On the other hand, Gwen seems to have happily fallen back into her second in command place. There was none of the sense that she's used to being in charge that there was in the last episode.
But maybe the biggest problem was the flippers of doom. They were just silly, and the buisness man sleeper agent, just looked silly when he was killing someone with his flipper of doom.
Actually, there was a bigger problem than that that kept bugging me throughout the episode. When Jack explains about the sleeper agents he says no one knows who they are. That makes no sense. If there's a race of aliens out there that is always using this strategy to take over worlds, wouldn't the rest of the universe know who it is, after they had taken over the planet. I mean someone's got to be in charge right? Sure you could keep it hush hush the first time, but Jack makes it sound like this happens rather often.
Of course, there are a lot of shows I would never even notice such problems in, because I have such low standards for them. Both the Stargates would be good examples. But I expect more from Torchwood. I guess it wasn't really bad, it just wasn't as good as I'm used to them being.
