So I thought my days of using LJ to rant about the problems of my life was mostly over, because until about an hour ago I thought my life was pretty much on track. Oh how little did I know.

I got a call from the financial aid office of my school. You see when I applied for my financial aid seven months ago, I put down the amount of money I expected to receive from the VA through my GI Bill. The amount I was supposed to receive according to the VA web site was about $540 a month. For some reason though I've been receiving about $740 a month. I guess my college just found out about this, and some how that extra $1400 dollars I received from the VA means I owe them $5000 dollars. You see, the school has decided to retroactively cancel several of my student loans, and says I now owe them all at once. How $1400 = $5000 I don't know. However even though they've already given me the money (which in my mind = they approved me for the loan) they now say that I owe it all back now.

Well I laughed in their face. Or I would have if I hadn't been ready to tear someone's head off. Instead I told them that there was no way I was paying them anything if they didn't send me an actual bill that explains exactly what I owe them and why. I really don't think they can do this. I mean sure I owe them the money, but I only agreed to borrow the money because I was assured there would be payment plans, and monthly payments, and yes interest. Not some, "You owe it all back today".

Tomorrow morning I'm calling the VA to see if they can give me any guidance on the subject, and once I have the paperwork from the school, I'm contacting my parents lawyer (who's just a great guy) and seeing what he says on the subject. In the mean time I really want to hit things. Man I wish I was still taking martial arts lessons.

But there is good news. Since I'm so upset I need validation, so by the end of tonight I'm going to post the next chapter of The Guardian even though it's not betad.

Isn't it time for Torchwood yet?

ETA: Speaking of TV, a couple of the season passes I had through iTunes have been taken off iTunes. So iTunes refunded me the money and they also gave me 4 free TV downloads. Any suggestions for something on iTunes that will take my mind off my woes?

Here's something else to make you feel better: Next weeks TV Guide has James as the centerfold with a fantastic interview about his roles in Torchwood and Smallville (I guess I'll have to start watching it), and wait til you see the picture!!!

Which one will you have to start watching Torchwood or Smallville. Torchwood I love, Smallville, even with James, I'm not so fond of. I will keep an eye out for TV Guide though.

I don't know about the law behind that but it doesn't sound right for me to want everything back at once. I hope they are wrong or you can negotiate something. *hugs*
Good luck!
