So much stuff I should be doing LJ wise, but I'm too tired right now. Figured I'd just post this chapter cause it's been a while since I've updated this story.

Title: Fearful Symmetry
Rating: NC-17
Paring: Darla/Spike/Angel
Summary: Sequal to Sinews of the Heart. Darla and Spike head to L.A. in the hopes that if they corrupt Angel, Wolfram & Hart will remove Spike's chip.

Chapter 13:

Darla wasn't all that surprised when she saw Angel's car parked outside of the police station. It looked like she wasn't the only one who knew about the zombie cops, or figured the best place to find their master was at the local precinct.

As she entered the building she heard a gun fire twice, and the familiar scent of Angel's blood filled the air. She ran in the direction of the blood and found a snarling Angel holding a living cop by the throat. She smiled as she saw the rage in his golden eyes.

"Darla? What are you doing here?" Angel asked. "Get out."

"Same as you, I'd guess" she said pressing her body against his back as she wrapped her arms around him. "Trying to stop the zombies." She stood on her toes so she could whisper in his ear. "Have I ever told you how sexy you are when you're terrorizing someone?" One of her hands ran down his stomach and her fingers slipped under the waistband of his pants.

Her words and hands distracted him enough for the cop to struggle out of Angel's grasp. The officer knocked over a filing cabinet and slipped through a hidden door.

"Are you happy now?" Angel said as he slipped out of Darla's embrace.

"Well, someone is," she said letting her eyes settle on the crotch of his pants which were beginning to tent. "Besides, you know you love the chase," she added before darting after the cop.

The hidden door led into a back room. Along the walls were shelves filled with photos of other police officers and candles. A small table stood altar like in the center, and the living cop was digging through a trunk.

"So where's the talisman or whatever?" Darla asked as she approached the cop.

He spun around brandishing a cross. She turned away, but a moment too late, as the holy symbol pressed into the flesh of her shoulder.

She screamed, stumbled back and fell. It wasn't that the burn was that bad, but if rescuing damsels was how Angel got his rocks off these days, well, she could damsel with the best of them.

Angel was right behind her. He grabbed the cop's arm, twisting it until the cross clattered uselessly to the floor.

"How are you controlling them, hmmm?" Angel asked the officer, twisting his arm more. But all he got was grunts of pain.

A bit annoyed that Angel wasn't paying more attention to her, Darla scanned the room. "Granath," she said.

Angel looked over where she was pointing and spotted the statue. "The zombie god, of course."

He threw the police officer against the wall, hard enough to knock the man unconscious before grabbing the statue off the shelf and smashing it.

Finally he turned to Darla and offered her a hand up. "Are you all right?" he asked, examining the burn.

"I'm fine," she replied coldly.

"Why are you really here?" he asked. "And where's Spike?"

"Spike's at some teen shelter, holding off the zombies. And you know how I hate zombies. They make the rest of us undead look bad."

Angel reached up to squeeze her burned arm painfully, sending shivers of anticipation through Darla. Their best sex had almost always started with him hurting her.

"Look," Angel said sternly. "I don't know what game you're playing," he stopped all of sudden. "Wait, Spike is where?"

"A shelter for homeless teens or something."

"Here, in this neighborhood?" Angel demanded.

"No, in Beverly Hills," she replied sarcastically. "Of course here; you know the area with the zombie cops?"

"Fuck," Angel said as he began to drag Darla outside.

"What? What is it?" she asked, annoyed at once again losing his attention.

"What do you think?" Angel replied exasperated. "I need to stop Spike from killing those kids."

"He's not going to kill anyone," Darla told him, but Angel didn't seem convinced. "Look he can't, okay. Stop!"

She tried to yank her arm free of Angel's grasp, but she couldn't. It seemed she was no longer stronger than him.

"He can't hurt humans, okay!" That finally brought Angel to a halt. "Listen, the army, put some sort of chip in his head. It causes him awful pain whenever he tries to hurt anyone human. So you don't need to worry about those kids."

"He turned you," Angel argued as they started to walk outside the police station. "If he can't hurt anyone, how did he turn you?"

"I. . . I slit my own throat," she admitted embarrassed. "You can't let Spike know I told you that," she added quickly.

Angel just stared at her, "You. . ." He shook his head. "Fuck, get in," he said nodding towards his car.

"What? What is it?" she asked, although she did as he requested.

"I can't believe I'm about to say this but. . . we have to go save Spike."

"From what?" Darla asked concerned but puzzled.

Angel started the car and began to back out of the parking space. "From a bunch of teenagers," Angel couldn't help but smirk a bit at that. But then he remembered the seriousness of the situation. "Look, the kids around here, they've been picked off by vampires for years, so a while back they decided to start fighting back. They know all about us and how to kill us, and some of them are even good at it. That's why I thought Spike was going to kill some of them. For once it's not going to be him starting the fight."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Even before he burst through the doors of the shelter, Angel could smell Wesley's blood. There was no thought at subtlety, only concern for Spike and his friends. His golden eyes scanned the front room but he didn't see any of them. Even as he took a moment to sort through the many confusing scents, Darla pushed past him, honing in on the trail of Spike's blood.
His friends were gone, although he could almost picture the way Wesley had lain bleeding on the couch as a concerned Cordelia and Gunn hovered frightened over him. Angel could only hope that the ambulance they had seen speeding away was taking his injured friend to a hospital.
Since there was nothing he could do to help them, he followed Darla into the back, roughly shoving aside the confused and frightened kids who got in his way.
He was just in time to pull Darla off one of the teens before she started tearing into them like a lamia coming off of a diet. For a moment he held her tightly against his chest, annoyed at her violent response.
And then he saw Spike.
He was curled into a ball on the floor. Although his duster hid any visible sign of his injuries, Angel knew it had to be bad, because Spike wasn't moving or responding in any way to his and Darla's arrival.
The gang that had been kicking the unconscious vampire, turned to face Angel and Darla.
"Get him out of here," Angel growled at Darla.
Angel was split apart with anger. Anger at Spike for being here, anger at the kids for turning on Spike, and anger at himself for wanting to hurt the kids for what they had done to Spike.
He could see that Darla was not pleased at being ordered around, but another look at Spike convinced her that it was for the best.
Luckily the arrival of two more vampires had the kids a bit wary. As Angel growled at them, Darla moved in to lift Spike's unconscious form up off the floor.
As she turned to leave, some of the kids tried to block her exit, but Angel was there, shoving them aside none too gently. They quickly made their way out of the teen-shelter.
Angel opened the door as Darla carefully lifted Spike into the back seat of his car. As she began to tend to Spike's injuries, Angel started the car, and not knowing where else to go, headed towards the Hyperion at top speed.
Thank you. There is a lot of good stuff in this episode, I just wish that I could deal with more of it, but only some of it is relevant to this fic.
Great update. And poor Spike. you know what would really help him heal faster? Oil wrestling with Angel ;-P
Sorry, I have a one track mind.
lol well I don't think he's quite up to oil wrestling at the moment. However, what he does need is blood, and you know what that does to vampires ;)
Man this makes me miss Dru. She would have done some interesting things with those teens. I am also sorry that Darla had to tell Angel, I am sure between the beating and the knowledge that Angel knows he doesn't have a bite he is going to be one unhappy vamp.
Spike's ego is definately going to be very bruised for a while (as is a lot of the rest of him). But who knows, maybe Angel will find a way to make it better?
Spike is ailing. I think a threesome is in order... for medicinal purposes of course.
lol yes, one must never underestimate the medicinal power of the threesome. At the very least Spike has some snuggles coming his way.
Thank you. *blushes* Obviously I'm quite fond of the story myself, and I love sharing my Darla/Angel/Spike OT3 with anyone who'll give it a try.
I'm a little behind so I'm only just getting to this now.
I'm really enjoying this story. Which surprised me a little because I don't normally read Darla fics. So this is a bit of a switch for me, but I'm liking it. I get this Darla. I even get her and Spike, which is not normally a pairing I go for.
Very interesting chapter. By his actions, Angel admits that he cares about Spike. I think this may be the breakthrough Darla and Spike were looking for. Either that or all hell is about to break through when one of the three of them gets jealous about the other two! lol
No worries on being behind. And thanks so much for giving this fic a chance since you don't normally read Darla. And I'm so glad you like her, and her and Spike.
Oh poor Spike. He really needs that chip out. Personally I never cared if the vamps picked them off or not. I'm a bad human being, always want the bad guys to win :)
Loving this fic, looking forward to the next.
Glad you're enjoying this so much. Yes, Spike does need the chip out. And I completely understand about wanting the bad guys to win. Half the fun of vampires is the evil. The other half of course being the sex ;)
Devious. And funny. I am worried about Spike though. Such a delicate flower. Why didn't he decamp?
Spike did have it rough. And yes, Darla's being her usual devious self, glad you liked the humor in it.
