iceminkI know I haven't posted much about myself lately, except to whine about being sick. This sickness thing right around my birthday is starting to be a bad habit. I was really sick last year on my birthday too. Maybe I'm just getting old.
I'm feeling better though, just kind of run down from not eating much the last few days.
Anyway, I can't say that too much has been going on in my life. I auditioned for a bunch of agents again on Wednesday, but I haven't heard back from any of them yet. Of course with the holidays I'm hoping that they are just busy.
As for the holidays, I'm not feeling especially Christmassy yet. Maybe it's the southern california weather. I am flying home on the 23rd, and I'm thinking that being back in Colorado will put me more in the Christmas spirit. Of course I'm also having a hard time buying presents this year, which is my favorite thing to do. I just don't know where to shop in LA. Sounds ridiculous I know, but back home I knew all these little shops that sold all kinds of great gift stuff. You know unusual gift items not just books and clothes and stuff like that. I'm sure I'll figure it out through.
On the other hand, December seems to be a good month for me in terms of award nominations. I have one more story nominated at Fang Fetish awards. Needy was nominated for Hotest Bite, Best Bashing Death or Violence, and Best Dark fic. Freedom was also nominated at LLGA for Best Saga and Best Episode Stealer. I was also nominated for Best Author over there. Actually both of these nominations kind of embarrass me. Maybe it's just cause I've gotten so many at once. Not that I don't appreciate it. Also they are both stories that I kind of think of as fringe Spuffy. Not exactly the mainstream of the Spuffy community.
I also forgot to mention the rather unique award I got from the Burst in Flame awards.
Not much else is going on, except that I've started making a couple good friends at work. We went out for drinks last Friday night, and it turned out that one of them was also a huge Firefly fan. So we had a Firefly night last Sunday where we introduced someone else to Firefly. It was blast, we stayed up until 3am watching episodes of Firefly. As far as the rest of my social life, I have two holiday parties to go to tonight, but I think I feel too run down to go to either of them, even though one of them will have free food. Besides I have to go to the one at work tomorrow night, so I think that'll be enough partying for me.
