My fan girl weekend

I've just had the best weekend and have decided I know all the best fangirls :)
So last night I met up with
eurydice72, her husband Craig,
_jealousy_, and
veggiebelle for the Kane concert. It was a great time. We got there really early, so we spent some time standing out front, but that meant we got to stand right in front of the stage and be up close for the concert, so it was worth it.
On a random note I actually got there even earlier than the others, and since Hustler was just across the street, I figured "What the heck?" and went in to look around for a while, which was kind of fun. People always tell me how different I should find L.A. from Colorado, and mostly I find the differences trivial, but I do find it interesting that there are commercials for sex shops like Hustler during regular TV shows out here, something that would never happen in Colorado.
Anyway, tangent aside, it was a great night out. James Leary did some comedy, that was okay, but not great, although I was amused by tales of his sleep walking friend. Then there was a guy named Jason Manns, who's such a pretty boy, but he can really sing and play guitar (at least I thought so, but
eurydice72 did too, and she knows more about this stuff than I do). I feel like I've seen him before, but I can't figure out where. But maybe it's just because he's sort of a typical clean cut good looking hollywood white boy.
Finally of course there was CK, who was great. Country isn't what I normally listen too, although I do have a few favorites, and I really liked some of his stuff. Once I find the time (and the money) I'm going to have to get his CD. Either that or keeping pressing play on "The House Rules" on Kane's myspace page. Which must be a really catchy song because normally I don't like songs that are just about music, parties, and having a good time. Maybe I just really like rule #7.
Maybe the best part of the evening though was Craig, because that wonderful man took pictures of CK so that the rest of us could just ogle him without a camera in our way.
eurydice72 has already posted some of them here. And she better post more or there will be words. (Mostly pretty please with sugar on top.)
As for the AIDS walk, I had a great time once I got there. I made some bad driving decisions this morning on my way there, so I arrived really late. It didn't help that I live only a few blocks from the half way point, so I basically had to drive all the way around all the closed off streets to get to the start.
Luckily I had intended to get there early, so although I was very late for when I intended to be there, I was still on time. In fact I had enough time to execute my "secret mission". See a funny thing happened right after I registered with Team Neptune a couple months ago. That same night I was going to the web page of this agency called Combat Casting which represents former military and police who are actors. It turns out that they also had a team for the AIDS walk.
Now if you remember, a few months ago I posted about a guy I met doing extra work who I have a crush on. He was the one who told me about Combat Casting, and I haven't seen him since, but I saw on their team page that he was doing the AIDS walk too. So after I registered, I quickly found where that team was meeting (they had over 20 people so they had a designated team meeting spot and were easy to find). I introduced myself to the people in charge, told them I had sent in my registration information and that I would have been walking with them if I wasn't already walking with another team. So now they've met me, and although I feel kind of foolish about the schmoozing, I came through relatively unscathed.
And gee, I just 'happened' to run into the guy I had the crush on. At this point being so late actually worked to my advantage. I said, hi, told him I'd love to talk but I had to go meet a friend, and then gave him my phone number, and ran like hell. Okay, I didn't actually run, but I wanted to.
And at this point let me just say how awesome
ghostgirl13 and Juanita are for getting Team Neptune together. The 11 of us managed to raise about $5000 and we wouldn't have been able to do that without them.
And so now onto the funny fan girl part of the day. When I finally found Yani and the others there was this guy standing with them who I knew I recognized, but couldn't place for the first moment. Then he took off his sunglasses and I realized it was Michael Muhney who plays Sheriff Lamb.
At least I can say I wasn't the only one who didn't recognize him right away. When the walk started he was wearing his official Veronica Mars sweatshirt which has the name of the show on the back. This other girl from another team saw it and asked him if he liked the show and he said yeah. Then she went on about how much she loved it and how it was the smartest thing on TV all along not realizing he was one of the actors. A little while later he told her who he was, and when she realized it she did this really funny jump, it was very cute.
Actually overall Michael made the walk very entertaining. He talked with us all through pretty much the whole thing. Maybe one of the most interesting things was when we passed this one guy standing all by himself with a banner that said something like "Jesus loves you". Michael pointed out that the guy wasn't saying there was anything wrong with being gay, just that Jesus loves you. Of course, right after Michael said this, the guy produced a megaphone and started going on about sodomites. That was the only word he said that I could understand but I'm willing to bet that when a person with a Jesus banner starts yelling through a megaphone about sodomites, he's not saying good things.
But again Michael pointed out that although he disagreed with the guy, you had to give the guy credit for standing by what he believes in enough to be willing to stand there all by himself while a thousand or so people who disagree with him walk by.
So that was pretty much my weekend. Oh, except I forgot to mention that while I was driving to the AIDS walk, the manager called me and asked me where I was. Even after I reminded her yesterday that I couldn't work this morning because of the AIDS walk, she scheduled me in again. I'm not in trouble or anything because I told her about it a dozen times over the last few weeks (including yesterday right before I left work) but it was a bit amusing. Tomorrow I do go back to work though, but I'm getting trained as a server, so I should be watering by next week and making tips and have money again.
So last night I met up with

Date: 2006-10-16 02:43 am (UTC)Craig and I went through all the pictures he took last night and deleted the ones that were definitely a no go because they were blurry or weird or something, and we still have a hundred left. As soon as he fixes the red eye and compresses them to a reasonable size, I'm going to post them. It'll probably take a day or two, though. And really, a lot of them are very similar because of our angle and the fact that CK sings with his eyes shut so much, lol. Those 3 I posted are definitely 3 of the best, I think. I love that little boy smile, and who knew his lashes were that long?!?
I'm kicking myself that I didn't get that Jason Manns' CD. I might have to see about ordering it online. Thy boy's got real pipes, which isn't fair considering how pretty he is, lol.
Now we just have to wait for CK to play in LA again...

Date: 2006-10-16 02:55 am (UTC)Although now that I think about it, I first realized I was a fangirl after I had this strange dream where I was sort of Buffy, Faith and myself all at once, and I was on a haunted cruise ship with Spike and he held my hand. Which is really odd when you consider I had this dream several years ago back when AtS season 5 was first airing, and we were just at the convention with JM on the Queen Mary.
Anyway I can wait patiently for the pictures, as long as I know they are coming eventually.
As for the next time CK plays in LA, I will definitely be there.
