Sep. 11th, 2006 12:15 pmSo I wrote this really long convention report, and then do to a computer glitch lost it all. I'll probably try and reconstruct it later, but I thought I'd do a really quick post now.
First of all I met so many wonderful people. I had a list of them, but that was in my lost post. I'll probably try and put it back together later on.
That was definitely the best part of the con, meeting everyone, from people I knew online, to people I just heard of, to people I didn't know at all before hand. In fact if I regret anything, it is that I wasn't a little more outgoing. I kind of regressed to my pre-LA shy girl state, I guess because whereas I when I meet people out here I don't really care what they think about me, at the con I really wanted people to like me which made me nervous.
The concert was fun, but not as good as the one in Houston last year, mostly because of technical problems they had with the mike. The play on the other hand was great. It was an especially fun experience for me because I've been so involved in theatre my whole life, but rarely do I get to go see a play I know nothing about. It took me about five minutes to figure out what sort of play it was and warm up to it, but after that I had a really good time, and James was great.
As for all the Q&A's and panels, the thing that interested me most was when James basically said that Joss had actually planned for Buffy and Spike to become a couple at the beginning of season 4, although he didn't really tell anyone, and that Riley was the rebound guy for Buffy so that she could be with Spike. That's not quite how he put it, but my memory isn't good enough to reconstruct the way James explained it, and that's the basic point.
Also one guy asked the writer's panel what they thought Spike and Darla's relationship might have been like. David Fury instantly said "Hot." After that they talked a bit about how the timing was never right for Spike and Darla, but they sort of implied that had the timing been different there would have been potential.
So much more to tell, and I will later I promise. Right now I have to take care of all the stuff I neglected for the con.
