I was having a pretty good day. I got up early and finally made it down to Central Casting and registered myself to do extra work. Then I got home and checked my e-mail.
So the person who organized my high school reunion, the one I didn't get to go to because I never received the correct information on when it was, now wants $65 from me because I didn't cancel. Not only that, she's just asked me for the money for the first time and has already said that if I don't pay her by August 15th she's going to use a collection agency.
Okay now first off, I would have paid in advance had she ever contacted me on how to pay (and oh yeah, this e-mail she sent me, still didn't tell me how to pay her) which she was supposed to do when she sent me my invitation, which she never did. I would have canceled if I had known I wasn't going to show up, but I thought I was, because I thought I knew where and when it was, but I had outdated information from online. In fact I even tried to contact her the day of the reunion, but she didn't respond to me until a couple days later.
The last thing I want is to deal with a collection agency. On the other hand I don't see how an RSVP on Classmates.com legal obligates me to pay her especially when I never received an invitation or the information I needed to attend.
Sorry, this just really pisses me off. I had really been looking forward to my reunion, didn't get to go, and dealt with that. I'd pretty much forgotten about the whole thing and now she's trying to charge me for it, and now I'm upset about the whole thing again. I feel like crying now.

Date: 2006-08-02 11:06 pm (UTC)What was the $65 supposed to cover? Was it supposed to be paid to her or to a third party? How did you commit to this? Let me know the specifics and I can better help you in regards to whether there was a contract or not.
Email me: slackerace@gmail.com (and let me know what state you are in, what state she is in, and what state the reunion was held in)
