Okay so I've been meaning to go home to see my family since Thanksgiving, but I just couldn't make it work. Then I realized my 10 year high school reunion was coming and I figured that would be the perfect time to go out there. So I RSVPed via classmates.com. Now I never received an invitation or heard anything back. To be honest the info on classmates.com made it look like they still hadn't decided the details of the reunion other than the weekend, so when I flew home there was a part of me that was wondering if the reunion was really happening.
Now I thought the reunion was today, so early this morning I went back to classmates.com and looked up the details so I could plan me day. That's when I realized that the main reunion had been yesterday. Whoops. Totally my fault, although again, I'll point out that despite the fact I RSVPed I'd never received any invitation that I could check. But there was still that questionable thing that implied there would be a second event today.
Finally after a long and difficult search (well by google standards) I found the web page for my high school and tracked down a link for reunions. According to that page you had to RSVP using the form on the blog on the previous page (um hello? the previous page was the high school's web page, and there was not blog and no link to this mysterious blog.) After RSVPing they were supposed to contact you so that you could pay in advance. Again, I was never contacted by anyone, but then I still haven't found this mystery blog.
In any case that page did list in detail the time and place of the event that was supposed to be today. So I went there and no one was there. I guess it must have been cancelled, but hey, it would have been nice to know. So I'm kind of annoyed. On the other hand I still doubt the people I really wanted to see would have shown up. I just wish I knew how to contact them.
ETA: Well it guess I was rather lucky after all. The reunion today was supposed to be a picnic and if I'd stayed around for another 10 minuites waiting for people to show up I would have been caught in a hail storm with 3/4 inch diameter hail. So I guess that was good. Actually me and my parents just had the weirdest dinner ever. Between almost every bite we were running to the front door to see if our irrigation ditch was flooding, and we were checking the radio stations for flash flood warnings. Looks like the 100 year flood isn't going to be tonight though.
