It’s been quite a while so here’s a brief recap:
When Angel refuses to turn the dying Darla she goes to Spike who turns her. After learning about his chip Darla comes up with a plan. She makes a deal with Wolfram & Hart that if she can turn Angel back into Angelus they will remove Spike’s chip. It’s only when Spike is attacked by a bunch of humans that he was trying to save, that Angel finds out about the chip. He agrees to try and help Spike get it removed by getting high and brining Angelus out to try and fool Wolfram & Hart.
Chapter 15:
Lilah kept her eyes focused on the operation happening in the room below. It wasn't easy. She could feel Angel's gaze moving across her skin. It was hardly the first time in her life a man had looked at her as if she was a piece of meat, but it had never been quite so literal before.
She tried her best not to acknowledge his stare, the problem was that it secretly thrilled her. Over the last year and a half it hadn't escaped her notice that Angel was a very attractive man. Normally she was able to push that to the back of her thoughts, but somehow the cold-blooded killer who had walked into Wolfram & Hart's office that night got under her skin in a special way.
Of course soul or no soul Angel still had to make an entrance. The alarms had gone off as soon as he, Darla, and Spike had walked into the office building. Security had rushed to the main lobby, and most of the men who met Angel there had died.
There was nothing particularly brutal about the way Angel had killed them. Most of them had had their necks snapped or had been tossed aside like dolls. But that was precisely the thing that was chilling about it, the lack of effort it had taken. Lilah had always known that Angel was dangerous, she'd just never really seen it until tonight.
As soon as Holland had arrived on the scene he had called off what was left of security and had warmly welcomed Angel. It wasn't long until Spike was on the operating table to have his chip removed, while Angel, Darla, Holland, Lindsey, and Lilah watched.
None of it sat right with Lilah. It all seemed too quick and easy. After all her dealings with Angel she couldn't help but think that something wasn't quite right. She just couldn't figure out what it could possibly be.
For just a moment her concentration wavered and her eyes met Angel's. He smiled at her, which in and of itself was enough to put her even further on edge. The look in his eyes was almost seductive, and yet she couldn't help but think a messy death lay at the end of whatever he had planned for her.
A phone on the wall rang and Holland picked it up. "Yes? Good, they'll be down in a minute," he said into the receiver. Hanging up, he turned to Angel and Darla. "The chip is out, and they're just finishing up now. You can go down to see him if you like."
A nurse came to lead the two vampires down to the operating room. Holland waited a few moments for them to leave, the door to be shut, and for the vampires to be far enough away that they couldn't hear.
"Well, I think that went rather well, don't you?" he said to Lilah and Lindsey.
"Are you sure this is a good idea, sir?" Lilah asked. "The chip gave us some leverage over Darla and Spike, and Spike without the chip-"
"Is a dangerous heartless killer?" Holland finished with a smile. "Yes I hope so."
"Sir?" Lindsey asked.
"You don't really think it was that easy do you? That Angel just up and lost his soul. No, he’s still a long way from St. Peter and the pearly gates."
"If he still has his soul-" Lilah began.
"Then why are we honoring our deal with Darla?" Holland finished for her. "Because we don't want Angel to lose his soul. We want to corrupt it, and I think we've gone a long way towards that today. Angel put himself in a position where he killed several people, and now he's responsible for Spike having his chip removed. I'd say he's getting plenty dark. After all, anyone Spike kills from here on out is on Angel's head. Yes, I'd say things are going exactly as planned."

It should have been a quick and simple trip from the observation room down to the operating room. But considering the wild look in Angelus' drugged eyes, Darla was hardly surprised that they didn't make it the short distance without incident. They hardly made it down the first flight of stairs before Angelus had her pressed against the wall as he ravished her mouth.
“Sir?” the nurse asked, unsure. “It’s just this way.”
He snarled and broke off the kiss. A moment later there was a thump as the nurse’s lifeless body hit the floor.
Darla had to keep herself from rolling her eyes. Angelus was acting like a fledge, drunk on violence for the first time. Sure, she could understand it, but that didn’t mean such behavior was to be tolerated. On the other hand she wanted out of Wolfram & Hart, and quickly. The last thing she needed was for the drugs to wear off and for Angel to burst into a crying fit.
“Darling,” she cooed at him. “We need to get Spike.”
His angry, too large eyes turned on her. “We don’t need Spike,” he insisted.
“Of course not,” she agreed pleasantly. “But you wouldn’t want people talking. Saying that he took what was yours—that would be me,” she added just in case he couldn’t follow her logic in his addled state. “And you didn’t do anything about it, would you?”
Angelus’ jaw worked as he considered her words. He didn’t say anything just continued down the stairs towards the operating room. She hurried behind him, hoping that she hadn’t just convinced him to ‘discipline’ Spike right then and there.
Much to her relief Spike didn’t seem to be at all hurt by the procedure, although he didn’t look exactly comfortable as he sat on the table while a doctor stitched up the back of his head.
Angelus merely crossed his arms and glared at the younger vampire as the last steps of the procedure were finished.
As soon as the string had been cut and Spike had gotten off of the table Angelus beckoned, “Boy!” and turned to leave.
Darla shot Spike a pleading look, and bit her bottom lip in a way most men found irresistible. Spike glared at her, and she could tell he knew exactly what she was trying to do. He gave in anyway. She loved that about him, he seemed to always know when she was manipulating him, but let her do it anyway. It showed a strange maturity that had developed in him over the last century, for he had never seemed to know when Drusilla was twisting him about her finger.
The two of them quickly followed after Angelus. No one tried to stop them as they left. That worried Darla. In her experience the only time plans, especially Angel’s plans went the way they were supposed to, it meant something that they didn’t yet know about was going on. She thought of that horrible fiasco in Vienna and just hoped that this time she wouldn’t end up half naked in a pig sty.

Date: 2009-02-18 06:20 am (UTC)I know that Darla had already worked out that W&H didn't want Angel to lose his soul, just that it be corrupted. Holland is right, this is just the sort of thing to do the trick. Those W&H employees are gonna weigh heavy in the morning. I hope Darla and Spike can help soothe his guilty conscience. *cough*3-way*cough*
