Bones Season Finale

Some thoughts on
I think I should start by saying the last episode was one of my favorites ever. I knew Booth wasn't going to die and I was looking forward to some nice hurt/comfort type scenes. Guess who was disappointed. So yeah, the plot here, didn't make much sense. I'm just glad the funeral didn't turn out to be a dream Bones was having. And I'm confused by why the show chose to have so many non-Gormagon related episodes after they came back. I remember reading something after the strike where they said they were going to focus on that story line, instead everything's been rushed into the last episode.
I have to make one more comment as someone who actually has done a twenty-one gun salute at military funerals (and also for a tv show once). DB, not so good with a rifle. It's hard I'll admit, but then I'm a 5 foot girl, and DB doesn't have my excuses. On the other hand I decided it was a character thing, that after being shot Seely couldn't handle a rifle with the normal military crispness he should have.
I also have to admit that I wish it had been Sweets not Zack. Sweets kind of bugs me. On the other hand, I can see where Zack makes sense. Again, wish we'd had more time, not just out of the blue "Zack's a killer". And what was the whole deal with Iraq from last season? It's like they've been trying to get rid of him, but couldn't agree on how. I have to say I'm just glad that Hodgins was a fake out, because that really didn't make sense.
I wonder if they are going to bring in the guy from Temperence's father's trial as Zack's replacement for next season?
Oh well, even if I found the whole Gormagon thing silly from the beginning I'll be back next season. After all how can you complain about a show that has DB in a bath with a beer hat?

Date: 2008-05-20 03:37 pm (UTC)finally, there was some tension, as everyone came under suspicion for being gormagon's apprentice. i really had my money on sweets, and although the character is annoying, i like the actor a lot and didn't want it to be him.
zack was TOTALLY out of the blue. and with the strike wrinkling up so many plot lines, i've been a little lenient, but. i wish they'd done a better job in tying it all together. did something happen in iraq that made him more susceptible? not to mention: poor zack! i don't want him to go, either.
the scene where bones rattles off the list of his premises broke my heart. two hopeless geeks, speaking in their own code...it got me. made me really sad. and cam's little breakdown reminded me that she'd been giving him lingering looks in the earlier part of the season, and that made me really sad, too.
yeah, i'm imagining that they're gonna bring that other guy in as zack's replacement. he's the only one who's ever beat zack at analysis.
overall, it felt like there was a lot all smooshed together, and lots of stuff got dropped (like, what's up with angela and hodgins?) but the finale was good enough to get me to watch at least the first ep of next season, even though there's not really any sort of cliffhanger.

I mean why did she stalk the other guy for months, but it only takes her a couple days to decide to shoot someone when she starts stalking Booth?

Booth getting decked by Bones completely made sense though. He was lucky she didn't do more.
