I'm Going to Houston

Okay, just this morning, on the spur of the moment I decided I'm going to the Vulkon Slayer convention in Houston. I have my tickets and everything. Can I just say I'm terrified. Which is kind of funny. When I was in the Navy I traveled to both Hong Kong and Egypt completely on my own for vacations. Yet Houston which I've even been to before (heck I lived in Texas for four months once) scares me. It's actually probably fear of the money I just spent on plane tickets. I would have rather driven, but I just didn't have the time. Unfortunately even with flying I won't get there till Saturday afternoon. Not that many flights from Denver to Houston, and I couldn't leave Friday night.

Still I never do stuff like this. In fact the two vacations I listed above, are the only two vacations I've ever been on in my life (not that they don't count as great vacations). In my family we travel to visit other family members, we never just go places. So I'm excited, scared, have huge butterflies in my stomach, feel guilty about spending the money, and just can't seem to choose the right emoticon.

Okay I'll stop babbling now. In other news, I'm now on Spring Break so I should be able to finally get some more writing done.

I know exactly what you mean. All we ever do is go home to visit family, and I am still to tell my husband I am going to Melbourne. And even though its in July, I am just as terrified. But go you for deciding to go. I'm sure you'll have the ebst time.

I can understand being nervous about spending the money, but I hope you have a good time and it inspires you to write more. Because I love your stories.

I think I might be meant to go because I live in Houston and my husband is going out of town that weekend. But, so far, I've never blown any money on such a silly obsession...

Yeah, I'm sure it'll be fun. If nothing else I just need to get away from my life for a couple days. Not that my life is bad, but it's nice to be able to redefine yourself every now and then.

I'm sure you'll have a great time in Melbourne too. Heck, I'd love to go there just in general (of course since I'm not Australian it's a bit more exotic to me).

Hopefully I'll have some new chapters in the next week or so. My goal over spring break is to get a rough draft of a chapter of one of my two WIPs a day. Not impossible, and once I get the next chapter or two written, things should start to come easily again.

As for the money thing, yeah, it is a silly obsession, but I take myself too seriously too often.
