I'm alive

Hey guys, sorry I've been gone for so long. I haven't even looked at LJ since. . . Christmas maybe? What can I say, I've been busy, my computer's been broken, and I was also upset about being broke and didn't want to be introspective the way LJ makes one introspective. On the other hand, some of my life is going great right now. I've made some really great friends at work, and I have this new social life that I love. We go out drinking a lot, but not because we have nothing else to do, and not to just get silly drunk. In fact a couple weeks ago we left the bar early to go play chess and stayed up until six in the morning playing chess. Possibly really nerdy, but I don't care, I love it.

I also had a wonderful phone call from UC Santa Barbara, one of the schools I applied to. One of the professors there called me to do an impromptu interview because he wanted to submit me for a fellowship. As we talked it became apparent that the fellowship itself is a long shot, although he's still going to put me up for it, but the important thing is, why would he put me up for a fellowship if he didn't think I was one of the top applicants? So I'm feeling good about my chances to get into grad school.

As for my stories, I should be posting again soon. In fact last night when I was e-mailing the next chapter of Fearful Symmetry to my betas, I found out that I'd won several awards during the most recent round of the Fang Fetish awards. Lessons on a Ledge was runner up for Best HET, Nothing to Fear was runner up for Best Sage and Possession was runner up for Best Alternate Reality. Sure they're all runners up, but who cares, I'm thrilled.
