I have a crush!
Aug. 15th, 2006 02:17 pmAnd it's been a really long time since there was a guy I was really interested in. Sure I've met a couple guys with potential since I moved to LA, but it's been over a year since there was a guy I really liked. Unfortunately I'm awful at being a girl, and I once again proved why I'm single.
I first met him on Friday. It's really funny, we were shooting a party scene for a tv show and one of the assistant directors paired us up to be a couple talking at the party. As it turns out he used to be in the army, and we ended up sort of bonding over our military experiences. At the very end of the day, I think maybe he was going to try and ask me for my number or something but I was with this other girl, who was afraid she was going to miss her bus and only lived a couple blocks from me, so I'd agreed to give her a ride.
So then yesterday we ran into each other on a totally different set, and whenever we had the chance (which wasn't all that much) we talked. At the very end of the day he asked if he could borrow my pen to fill out his timecard. And this is the part where I'm an idiot. When I got my pen back he asked me when I was working, and I just didn't get that he was trying to figure out when I had some free time to get together. That didn't even occur to me until much later last night, so I was very vague on when I was free (cause honestly I don't know). We kind of said good-bye with an awkward 'We're sure to see each other on another set'. It wasn't until I was in my car and driving away that I realized I should have just written down my number and given it to him. That way neither of us would have actually had to ask the other out in front of everyone who was waiting in line to get their time cards signed.
I really have to get better at this dating stuff. Next time I see him though, I'm going to be sure to give him my number. I just have to hope that no other girl snatches him up in the mean time. Usually when I like a guy I'm not aware of other women being interested in him, but I actually heard several of the girls on set mention him. Of course he was kind of the center of attention because he was in a penguin suit (literally, not a tux, an actual penguin suit). A couple girls complained that it was too bad that that cute guy was hidden away under the head of a penguin.
In other news, I'm in love with a new pair of boots I just got. Yes, I'm broke, but I haven't bought any new footwear of any kind since October, and those were shoes for work, so I figure I'm entitled. And they were pretty cheep for a pair of knee high black (fake?) leather boots. And for the kind of shoes they are, they're pretty comfortable. I'm going to wear them around my house this afternoon to try and break them in in an environment where I can take them off at any time.
