Minor annoyances
Aug. 11th, 2006 10:58 am[Unknown site tag]1. Windshields, as in mine is cracked. A rock hit my windshield the other day as I was driving on the freeway. Hopefully it can be fixed without replacing the whole windshield because my insurance company will waive the deductible, but if I do need a new windshield that's $500 out of my pocket.
2. UPS, normally they deliver to my place in the late afternoon. Yesterday they decided to deliver at 7:35. I was home all day yesterday until 7:00 when I had to leave for a 7:30 class. And since I'm working this afternoon I won't be home to get the package and I'll have to wait until Monday morning to pick it up.
3. Garment bags. Whatever happened to them? I've been looking all over L.A. for one and couldn't find one. Sure there are these hundred dollar things they call garment bags, but they're way more than I need. I need a bag designed to put hangers through the top. Simple. I did find one online at target for about $15, so I ordered it. But despite ordering it last week I won't have it until Monday (see number 2).
4. Taxes. Yeah no one likes them, but usually I don't mind them. It's not that taxes I'm actually going to pay that's bothering me, it's the amount they are withholding from my paycheck. I got my paycheck for the work I did Monday yesterday. Out of the $120 I earned, $30 was taken out in various taxes. That's 25%?! And I'm going to get most of it back, I always do. But in the mean time I need to figure out how to survive on only 75% of what I'm making. Actually what I may need to do is dig up my tax documents from last year. I didn't bother to file my taxes because I made so little last year that I wasn't legally required too. But maybe I could file late or something, and end up being exempt. I'm not really sure how this works, but it may be worth a trip to H&R block to figure out just how poor I am and figure out if I can be exempt from withholdings.
