You know, the punch cards would have been fine if they'd just told us to make sure we punched all the way through and there were no chads hanging. Instead they kept it a secret and just threw votes away all those years. Which I resent since I'd always voted on punch cards until the Florida controversy in 2000.
There are so many potential problems with the computers. I've heard from people who worked elections that there were rarely problems with the optical scanners like you voted on, but they seem like a pretty big waste of paper.
Now we have computers with wheels you have to turn to scroll up and down to select then click enter. I don't think they are as problematic as the touch screen ones and have never had any problem at my location, but in some areas they get machines that don't work or don't have nearly enough. And I imagine they could be hacked.
