I'm not sure how I got to this story, since I was actually hunting for Spike/Angel fic, but I'm so glad I did! I read it all in one sitting, and it's now my favorite fic *ever*. (Though I haven't read your others yet ;)

While just the story premise itself, was really, all sorts of awesome, what impressed me most about this, was how solidly character-driven, and well the whole story just *worked*. You didn't skimp out on Buffy and Spike, or their relationship. Every step of the way, their motivations were well laid out, and plausible. Spike, was so utterly Spike, and Buffy may have been completely AU from the show, but I totally bought this version, and she stayed wonderfully consistent throughout.

Also, I adored the ending! I was afraid that there would suddenly be a need for Buffy/Spike to stake Dru, and I'm delighted with the way you left them.

I can't remember the last time I read a story (published fiction too) that I've enjoyed so much, and didn't have one aspect in it that bugged me (seriously, there's always at least one).
