Life update

Well it worked. Moving to L.A. has helped me figure out what I want to do. At least in the short term. I never would have guessed it myself but my calling seems to be bartending. At least it's something I really enjoy, now if I could only find a job.

How do I know that this is the right thing for me? I have been hired with a catering company, and I worked my first job with them last night. The guys who run it are really nice, and let me tend the bar even though I don't have much experience (I went through bartending school, but I've only bartended two other nights.)

Anyway, when I was driving home afterwards I was feeling great and energized. I was actually considering going out and spending some of that pay check (unusual for me. I always find it intimidating to go out on my own, and since I haven't been going out I don't really know many people in L.A. yet.) Anyway what should happen but I got a flat tire.

I got off the highway as soon as I could, and pulled out the manual to figure out how to change the tire. After a bit of confusion, I was well on my way to having the tire changed, when I realized that my lug wrench was too big for the lugs on my car. Luckily a couple guys came by to help me. One of them lived near where I stopped and had a complete set of lug wrenches.

So why was my lug wrench the wrong size? Evil British mechanics (hopes there are no british mechanics on her f-list). A couple years ago I had a car accident in England. The front tire was was completely destroyed, and evidently they changed, not only all the tires on my car, but all the lug nuts, and used a different size. AND THEY NEVER TOLD ME ABOUT IT! Honestly, I'm not that surprised. They also took the anti-freeze out of my car, tried to sell me new headlights I didn't need, and they treated me like I was an idiot because I was a girl.

The point of all this. I was still in a great mood when I got home. I didn't end up going out, cause I figured I'd need to spend that paycheck on a new tire and getting my other tires checked out but still I was very energized and not upset. Every other job I've ever had I've always felt dead after coming home.

So that's my little update on my life.

In other news, I'm still not really keeping up with my LJ right now (job hunting wears me out) so I apologize for all birthdays and other important events I've missed.

I'm also really hoping to start updating regularly again, but the writing is going pretty slow right now. I should have a new chapter of Freedom soon. I actually have the next chapter written, but it was pretty short and I think the one after that will be short too, so I'm waiting till I finish that to see if I need to combine them. I also have two chapters of Morpheus' Child done, just waiting for them to be betaed, and hopefully I'll start getting more done on that story.

I will read 'Freedom' later. I'm glad you're happy with the new job.
The mechanics? I don't have words..

Yeah I'm definitely happy with the new job, if only it weren't so sporadic. I really need full time work.
