I get what you're saying, but I really don't see this as much about gender politics as it is about (here's the magic word again) change.

For inasmuch as Hilary is relatively new to being in elected office herself, she has been associated with elected office for years. And although I loved Bill, the taint of ethics probes, impeachment, and sexual scandal left its mark and I believe Hilary is the unfortunate recipient of guilt by association.

I think people looked at Hilary and figured she was old-school politico. I don't deny that old cliche that the same qualities that are admired in men (intelligence, aggressiveness) are not as flattering on women, and I'm sure that played a part in her defeat.

Mostly I just think people wanted a breath of fresh air. I believe that Obama is our generation's JFK, and I think he can use his charisma heal the rifts in our country.

But I do hope Hilary runs again. She is my definite choice for the first female president.
