Peeking in

Hey there all. I've been meaning to post on this and that for a while now. Actually I had all this time set aside to do it yesterday after I ran some errands. Unfortunately as I was driving home some guy who wasn't paying attention at all, seriously rear-ended me. I'm fine, although my neck is a little stiff. Actually it hurt a lot yesterday so I even went to the the doctor and they x-rayed me and everything. Nothing broken thankfully, but I'm not my usually cheery self. Especially cause a couple hours ago the lady from the other guys car insurance called me. I was taking a nap at the time so I didn't get her call. At the same time my mechanic called me and when I talked to him he said that the woman had been talking about totaling my car. I love my car. It's the only car I've ever owned and I've had it for almost 10 years. What's worse if they total it, I have to buy another car. I don't have time to go car shopping. I've looked online but the online sites are fairly useless if you ask me. The only New Beetles (which is what I had before) that are listed online are like $5000 more than I'm guessing they'll offer me because they are all several years newer than my car was (and ironically all have more milage). My mechanic did say that she was gong to add $2000 dollars onto what they give me for the car because it had such low gas milage, but still I'm not going to be able to get another bug. The even more annoying thing is that I just spent $450 on the car Friday, three days before the accident to get it fixed up. So now I'm panicking about having to get a new car because all of the used cars I'd want (basically a small good gas milage city car) are way more than I think I'm going to get. The worst part is it was almost three hours ago I called her, and she hasn't called back so I have no idea what's going on. And tomorrow I go back to work (I took the day off today cause I was still hurting too much) and once I'm at work it's really hard for me to take phone calls.

I really need to relax about all this.

Sorry! Been there and done that with the insurance and the totaling of the car, so I know how you feel.

I went to enterprise. Maybe they'll have some Bugs??

And I hope you weren't affected by the earthquake.

Thanks. We didn't have any earthquakes here (I'm back in Colorado these days). And I'm going to get to keep my car, although it'll be a little banged up. My mechanic says it should drive just fine however.

Oh, so you stayed in Colorado. Very good. LA isn't the best place to be, IMO.

And cool that you can keep the car.

I'm just glad you're okay. But I agree, all the insurance and stuff stinks. I know you just want everything the way it was.
*hugs*

Thanks. Yeah, it seems like if you weren't at fault in the accident they should pay you more or something, because I didn't do anything to get my car wrecked except drive on the roads. But I'm going to get to keep my car, it'll just have a few dents.

Good luck! With insurance you'll need it. And for finding a new car should it come to the worst.

Thank you. I figured it was bettery to keep my car with a few dents and dings than to try and fine a new one. I sort of come out ahead that way, because it won't cost much to get the car fixed to a point where it's safe to drive, so I get to keep the extra money and just drive around with a couple dings.

*nods* That's right. Glad to hear that things seems to turn out all right in the middle of the whole mess. *hugs*
